At this level, learners have progressed to nearly reading
independently. Learners are able to process ideas in the
text and they can read more complex stories. Illustrations
may not be needed to understand the text.
The Slow Winner is a reader about a race between hare
and snail. Hare was so determined to win the race. He
kept on rehearsing and he was sure he would win the race.
He despised snail because snail is slow. He also thought he
was wiser. However, snail was wiser than hare and used
his wisdom to win the race.
